Company
History
Founded in
September 1966 by Medical Technologist Mr. Roy Clarke, Central Medical
Laboratories Limited (CML) is one of the pioneers of private
laboratories in Jamaica.
Today CML
is one of the largest most respected private organizations in Jamaica.
Our corporate headquarters and main testing facility is located at 3-5
Eureka Crescent, Kingston 5. In the late 1970’s, the company ventured
into rural Jamaica with a branch in Ocho Rios and acquired its own
premises at 14 Carib Arcade Main Street, Ocho Rios in January 1984 from
which it now provides complete laboratory services.
It is the
hub of a network of patient service centres in St. Ann’s Bay, Port Maria
and Brown’s Town. In June 1971 the company acquired the assets of the
Nuttall Medical Centre Laboratory from Bacteriologist Dr. T. Lionel
Gracey and moved to the Caledonia Avenue address which served as its
headquarters until October 2000. The move to Nuttall Medical Centre
gained for us the central location for which the company had been named
in foresight and brought it in closer touch with the doctors in the
Cross Roads area.
In May
1977 CML was proud to be chosen to provide laboratory services to Oxford
Medical Centre, Jamaica’s first multidisciplinary clinic. In April 1979
CML purchased the assets of Nuttall Laboratories Limited from pathologist
Dr. Noel March. Other collection centres were acquired accordingly over
the next 30 years bringing the total to 18 at December 2005.
With a
renewed thrust towards expansion outside of the corporate area we
ventured into Clarendon in 2005. On September 1, 2005 we set up an
office at 7 Fernleigh Avenue, May Pen as well as a branch in Spanish
Town in December 2005.
