The Central Processing Unit, (CPU) is the “brain” of the Laboratory. Eight members of staff complement the CPU department.

The role of the CPU department, is to receive, record, centrifuge, input data, pour, label and dispatch the various specimen to the Technical Departments. The samples/specimen received include urine, stool, swabs, blood samples and other body fluids.

The mandate of the department is to exhibit professionalism, integrity, efficiency and quality performance, as well as to ensure pre-analytic quality of all specimens, before they are dispatched to the Technical Departments.
